How To Make Audio CDs
Connect The Cable Or Microphone
If you are recording from a record player, CD player television or radio, connect the cable described on the
Hardware page of this web site, from the Line Out sockets on your
sound source to the Line In socket on your computer.
If you are recording live sounds connect your microphone to the Mic In socket on your computer.
Display The Volume Controls
Display the volume controls for your computer sound card on your computer monitor as described on the
Software page of this web site.
Start The Sound Capturing Software
Start the software that you intend to use for capturing the sound. This software is described on the
Software page of this web site.
DotricDJ is an example of this software.
Start Recording
Start the sound capturing process using the sound capturing software, start the sounds on your sound source
and adjust the volume as necessary using the sound card volume controls. The sounds will be saved
to a WAVE or MP3 file on your computer. In the case of DotricDJ, the volume level of the recording is
indicated by the number of blue squares in two progess bars. The sound card volume controls are adjusted
to maximize blue square activity.
Write The Audio CD
Make an audio CD from your saved WAVE or MP3 files using the CD writer software described on the
Software page of this web site.
Recommendations When Turning LP Records Into CDs

- If you are using DotricDJ, record each side of the LP record as one file
- If you are using DotricDJ, divide the file containing a side of the LP record up into its
individual tracks using the
Saving An Area Of Interest facility
- When you are using the CD Writer software copy the files for each individual track to the
CD so that CD players will be able to identify and display the individual tracks correctly
